FOM passed away yesterday
« on: June 04, 2017, 09:46:28 AM »
Craig passed away yesterday from a heart attack at his home in Northern Wi.  Once I find out final details about service arrangements I'll post them here for those interested.

It was through this forum I met Craig many years ago and we became very good friends.  Craig had built a beautiful home on a lake in Northern Wi.  For years he would let us stay at his place for a week during the summer while he was still residing/working down here in the Madison area.  The family memories we made at his cottage during those weeks will live with us forever.  Denise and I also enjoyed snowmobiling with Craig and his significant other (Diane) during the winter months.

RIP my friend, you will be greatly missed.

David

Wow, I didn't see that coming either. Although I've lost touch with him over the past few years, we spoke a lot about the house he was building that year, on the Turtle Flowage....

What a great guy ! That one year a big group of us rented a house for a Porker Run and all got to hang out for a long weekend together.... He was a great guy and we had a blast that weekend. Sorry to hear about this.... Thank you for letting us know David...

One ride, we all stopped for a nice meal at a local watering hole.

FOM was flirting with some waitress for a while at the bar....
Kingpin walks up to the both of them and says, "Dad, it's time to go home now, mom's going to be mad at us if we're late again"

We all fell the one floor laughing our assess off !  :floor: Fond memories of that time in life !  :thumbsupsmileyanim:

He was so pissed when I did that, but probably 30 minutes later he was laughing about it.  He was a great riding partner, we had not spoken in a few years now, but man, some good memories riding with Craig aka FOM.

Did FOM stand for fat old man on this board, or am I thinking of a different FOM?

He wasn't fat, but he was older.... I think he was actually retired for 4-5 years already ???
Trying to remember the timeline. Last time I saw him he purchased a cabin on the flowage and all the contractors he met with wanted to knock the entire house down and start over. He was sort of pissed about that b/c he had purchased the place at a normal cost (waterfront cabins $$), so he assumed value in the house part. I think he finally caved in and did what they all suggested, but I heard the house came out awesome and he was really happy with it. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like he got all that much time out of it.

Sad news FOM was a great guy, I met him a few times.

I believe FOM was Fast Old Man, similar to Mark's FOG enduro racing name which meant Fast Old Guy.

I am four years old than FOM. That really makes me feel like an old timer. Golf keeps me young and in shape.
