Nice to see an early start. Checked the web cams near my place, looks like most of the snow has melted away. Just some trace snow in the shaded areas left. Really hoping to get a solid week of riding in between Christmas and New Years up north. Got the whole family coming for a week, if all goes according to plan...

One of my buds & grandson were first into The Buckhorn (local tavern) on Sat. night......this makes 4 yrs running for the two of them.....not bad for only 1.5 to 2" of snow.........

Trails open today ! But the rain on Monday and Tuesday wiped out the snow cover from my place to Land O Lakes, WI.

Start snow dancing boys and girls. The next 3 1/2 months are our only window for the season  :( (for us mid-western riders)

This extreme cold snap ought to help lock up all the lakes. Seems like the base is getting built upon, this might be a decent start to the riding season !  :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Our club, north of the twin cities, still has the gates closed. We haven't had a chance to go through the trails and check them out, because it had been so warm and wet. Hopefully, we will get out and knock down some cattails next Saturday. The area lakes and swamps should be freezing up nicely by then.

I put on the first half mile on the sled, through the yard and in the development. I refuse to be the first sled to cross the lake to get to the trail.

I like giving the lakes a couple extra weeks at the beginning of the season - especially now that both my sons are riding with me.

I don't even see the crazy ice fishermen sitting out on the lake on their pails, so the ice must still be very thin.
