How many miles can you expect to get out of a bike?

Until it bores me (or pisses me off)....  :floor:

My new ride... picked it up cheap from one of my neighbors last week.

Eventually,  my son will probably be riding it more than me.   He will be turning 16 next year.  Yikes!

16 and he can legally ride it there? In FIB Land you need to be 18 to ride a 250. If anyone is looking for a like new antique ride I have a deal for you!
83 Suzuki GS650L with 1400 miles on it. All lines, carb gaskets, boots, tires and fluids are new. Really it is barley broke in at 1400 miles. Sat in heated storage for 30 years then a guy rejuvenated it and solid it to me. Wife decided she likes the back of the Wing better than driving. :(
Life is tough, but it's tougher if you're stupid!

If that was a 1980-81 GS850G I would be taking a ride or calling a shipping company. I loved my 1980... my first dedicated street bike. Before that I had an MT250 Elsinore enduro. I would go out on the weekend on the 850 and ride 400-500 miles.
I understand the dilemma. Correct spelling takes time that could be spent licking the windows on the short bus.

You sure? You are gettin older now. May be time to slow down and lighten up a bit. May want to step down to a 650 now!
I bought a brand new 79 GS1000 when I was a senior in high school and just sold it a couple years ago with only 12K on it.

From the NY State Dept. of Health website:

At age 16, drivers are eligible for a motorcycle license. Drivers must have a valid NYS motorcycle license to operate a motorcycle.

From the NY DMV Site:
Driving in New York State
To drive a car or motorcycle in New York State, you must be at least 16 years old have a valid NYS driver license or learner permit, or a driver license or permit that is valid for driving in NYS issued by another state or country.  If you are under age 18, you must obey the restrictions that apply to drivers under age 18.

I just got back from a short little ride.

That's what we ride (650s) no need for any thing larger unless it's a HD and a 1200 is equal to a 650 in acceleration due to the weight.

You need some more tire that are a bit more aggressive... Shinko 705s are nice. 20% off 80% on road tires :nana:
