General Snowmobile Discussion / Boots
« on: October 12, 2017, 11:20:58 AM »
Looking at new snow sneakers. I've always had boots with removable liners, like Kamiks or Sorels, but lately I've been looking at more of a hiking boot style with out removable liners (lighter, less clunky to walk around).

No comments on the first day of summer, days getting shorter, halfway to winter?  You guys are slacking!

General Snowmobile Discussion / Lucas Oil
« on: November 19, 2014, 08:02:01 AM »
Thinking about making a switch to the Lucas full syn. I've used Yamalube 2s for over 10 years, and never had a problem, but it's getting harder to find, more expensive, and one of my suppliers carries the Lucas at $45/6qt case.

General - NON Snowmobile Discussion / Why so quiet NFC fans?

Bears got crushed, Pack lost pretty good to a middling Saints team, Vikes barely squeaked out a win and the mid-west contingent is quiet....

General - NON Snowmobile Discussion / Another car thread
« on: September 22, 2014, 11:24:02 AM »
Brought home a '14 Explorer XLT on Saturday for the wife. Very nice car all around, not our first choice but has lots of goodies she got excited over and the kids fit into the 3rd row (which is why we didn't get the 1st choice Toyota 4 Runner). Too many gadgets for my taste but it's her car and she likes it. At 150 miles, our one gripe so far is lack of storage space. This thing has no where to put anything! The '11 Honda Pilot we swapped in (122k, one wheel bearing and one trip to the dealer for software update/airbag recall) had bins and cubbies everywhere, including a good size, covered bin behind the 3rd row seat. with the ridiculous 3 step fold and flip seat in the Explorer, the smaller, uncovered bin in the back is only useful with the seat up. Want to get more in the back? Gotta flip them down, which means taking all the stuff in the bin OUT!  Ford screwed the pooch with this design. Like I said, other than that it's looking good.

General Snowmobile Discussion / Just in time....

....for the end of the season.  Got a nice 8ish inches of medium weight white gold on our pretty decently set up base yesterday/last night. Now the meteoridiots are saying a "prolonged warming trend" next week, which puts us into the sketchy March dice-roll. This weekend should be great, only problem is we're headed to visit my in-laws in sunny FLA early tomorrow a.m.  :banghead:
Oh well. At least I was able to play hooky for a few hours yesterday and ride 50+ miles of freshly groomed stress relief. If it's over, it's over.

General Snowmobile Discussion / East Show- Anyone go?
« on: October 07, 2013, 12:24:13 PM »
Stopped in Saturday a little after noon. Twentieth annual show and the thing is shrinking year by year. Got a decent deal on a jacket for the boy, bibs for the wife and an overpriced video to keep me occupied in the off season (seriously, how many times can they sell footage of the same launches?!) There was obviously fewer occupied booths, and even fewer vendors since a handful had 2 spots. I don't see it lasting more than a few more years unless the economy turns around and people start spending.

General - NON Snowmobile Discussion / What, no GM's?

Top Ten recalls this year. Note the glaring lack of Ford's and, more to the point for you haters, GM's:

Today marks the 69th anniversary of the greatest display of courage by mankind ever seen. Remember it folks, and remember those that showed that courage. There's not many left to tell the tales.
